What is a Podiatrist?

Podiatry is a branch of medicine devoted to the study, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle and lower leg. Within the field of podiatry, practitioners can focus on many different specialty areas, including surgery, sports medicine, biomechanics, diabetic foot care and routine management of foot health.


What is the difference between a Podiatrist and a Chiropodist?

Nothing! There is no difference between a chiropodist and a podiatrist. The term chiropodist has been traditionally used in the UK, but the term podiatrist is recognised and used more internationally. Chiropodists in the UK are being referred to as podiatrists more and more and many people in the profession refer to themselves as both.
