If you are in pain where do you turn to? Do you suffer in silence? Self-treat with Ibuprofen and Deep Heat? Or do you make an appointment with your GP?

I think the majority of us will adopt the very British stiff upper lip approach and suffer in silence. We hear many patients say that they just don’t have time to seek treatment but if your car broke down you’d take it straight to the garage so why is it not the same for our bodies?

Early treatment leads to a quicker resolution however that’s not to say that our team can’t help if it’s a long standing problem that you have. There is no need for a GP referral to our clinic, simply call and make an appointment at your convenience. For some, who have never had treatment from a physio before, they might not know just how accessible, quick and effective their treatments may be.

Physiotherapists don’t just deal with sports injuries (although they are very good at treating them). They treat pain in the hips, the back, the shoulder, the neck and much more. It could be that you have a general ache that just won’t go away, a recurrence of headaches that could be caused by your posture or perhaps you’ve had an operation and require some help with your rehabilitation. Physiotherapy treatment has been proven to be effective for joint and muscular pain.

Generally we say that if a simple movement is causing you some pain or discomfort we can help. Whatever the problem our expert Physiotherapy team can help you.

Here at Davenport House we take our patients on a journey to their recovery. The journey starts with an expert diagnosis to ensure that you receive the right treatment. Treatment will vary between patients, what works for one patient may not work for another. With this in mind it’s important to know that every patient at Davenport House Clinic is given a personalised treatment plan. There is no one fix for all in our opinion.

Your first appointment with the Physiotherapist would be an Initial Assessment which would include a detailed history take and a physical examination to assess the relevant area. We take into account that each patient has a different home life, occupation and interests and we will ensure that you are involved at every stage of your treatment.  It may be that your Physiotherapist assesses your range of movement and neurological responses, observes your posture and tests muscle power to make a diagnosis. Your Physiotherapist will explain what is causing your problem and how they can help you on your road to recovery. Your treatment will be explained to you at each stage and we encourage you to ask as many questions as you need to.

Your treatment will be tailored entirely to your diagnosis. The Physiotherapists at Davenport House have access to a wide number of treatment modalities to provide the best care for you. Treatment could include massage, acupuncture, manipulation, mobilisation, electrotherapy and a home exercise plan or a combination of different treatment.

The length of your treatment plan will vary. Some patients may need one or two sessions but others may need to come for a number of sessions depending on progress and symptoms. Your Physiotherapist will be able to give you an indication of how long treatment may take. In addition to the treatment given during your appointments your Physiotherapist may advise on some exercises at home or modification of your current duties / hobbies to aid the management of your condition. It is just as important to adhere to this advice as it is to attend your treatment appointments.

We understand that pain can interfere with your life and we will do our very best to not let it stop you living the life you want.

We’ll be there with you from the start to the end of your treatment. Our aim is to have you functioning at the highest level possible. You can be assured that you are in good hands at Davenport House Clinic.
