February 2011 - Are you suffering from festive foot fatigue? If so, here is our guide on how to take care of those worn out feet.
Christmas can be a particularly harsh time for our feet. Whether we’re rushing here, there and everywhere for that last bit of shopping or wearing a pair of killer heels for the office party, our feet can come under a lot of strain at this time of year. Most of us are also guilty of neglecting our feet when the dark nights draw in as our feet are never really on show.
If you are having foot pain or discomfort or if you have any particular concerns about your feet why not make an appointment with our Podiatrist. During a routine appointment he can address any questions or concerns that you may have and carry out routine treatment such as the removal of hard skin, debridement of painful corns and the trimming of toenails. We guarantee you’ll leave the clinic feeling much better than when you arrived.
If you cannot make it to an appointment we highly recommend using a good moisturiser on your feet every day. Just as you would brush your teeth going to bed, also take a moment or two to apply a small amount of moisturiser to your feet to keep them hydrated. If you can make time, soak your feet in warm water at least once a week. As well as relaxing your feet, you will also feel much more relaxed in yourself. Take care when drying you r feet and make sure you dry the area between your toes. Use a foot file to gently remove hard skin and again apply a small amount of foot cream. There you have it, pampered and relaxed feet ready for that next shopping trip!
We also recommend wearing shoes that fit well or in other words ‘sensible shoes’. Shoes that pinch or rub or cause excessive pain are not suitable for every day wear and can cause further foot problems in the future if you persistently wear them.
So this Christmas why not treat yourself to an appointment at the clinic? You can relax with a hot drink and a mince pie while our Podiatrist works his magic.
If you are struggling for ideas of what to get that special someone this year, why not purchase a gift voucher from the clinic? The vouchers can be for any amount you wish and could be just what the doctor ordered for many of your friends and family.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our patients a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of the team here at Davenport House Clinic.
