Gait Analysis Treatments

Here at Davenport House Clinic our Podiatrists and Physiotherapists work together to ensure you receive the best possible treatment. Below is a list of the treatment options you may be offered following a Gait Analysis.

Depending on your injury or biomechanical problem there are several treatment options which may be offered to you.

Exercise Prescription

Exercises may be prescribed to stretch, strengthen or to mobilise. Doing simple exercises regularly can be very useful for many pain and joint problems. Many exercises are designed to reduce and prevent stiffness, usually as a result of muscle (soft tissue) injury. The idea is to keep the muscle moving through its range of motion, so that it doesn't become stiff or lose strength.

Our Podiatrists and Physiotherapists will be able to offer you advice on home exercise as part of your rehabilitation.

Orthotics

Orthotic devices can be made or prescribed after a full biomechanical assessment. They are used to reduce pain, redistribute pressure, and to prevent problems with our feet.

They can be used to treat hallux rigidus, severs disease, leg length discrepancies, metatarsalgia, heel spurs, and many more conditions.

It is vital to have a biomechanical assessment first so that our Podiatrists can fully assess your foot condition or injury and offer the correct treatment plan. Our Podiatrists will ensure that the devices fit in your shoes properly, and that you can wear them comfortably. They take a little time to get used to for some people though.

Temporary devices can often be made on the day of your appointment from as little as £30, whilst some specialist devices may have to be ordered from a lab. There is a choice of custom or off the shelf orthotics. Not all conditions require a custom device.
