What is a Nutritionist?

A nutritionist is someone who can advise you on how the nutrients in your diet relate to your overall health and wellbeing. A nutritionist can help you to get the best out of your food and ensure you are eating the right amount of nutrients. Food that suits one person may not suit another and a nutritionist can look at your diet and advise suitable changes for a healthier and happier you.

What is a Dietician?

A dietitian influences health and disease by applying the science of nutrition to the feeding and education of individuals and groups.

Dietitians often work with people who have special dietary needs, inform the general public about nutrition, give unbiased advice, evaluate and improve treatments and educate clients, doctors, nurses, health professionals and community groups.

What experience does your Dietetic and Nutritional Consultant have?

Our Manchester based nutritionist Emma Carder has over 16 years experience of working in both the public and private health sectors. Emma worked at Aintree Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for a number of years working alongside Neurologists, Weight Management Physicians and Diabetologists to name a few.

Like all practitioners at Davenport House Clinic, Emma is registered with the Health Professions Council. To register with the HPC Emma undertook rigorous training and she must continue to demonstrate fitness to practice to remain on the register.

Do I need a GP referral to see a Dietician?

You are able to refer yourself for a nutritional consultation. Additionally Emma holds provider recognition status with BUPA, Axa PPP, Aviva, Prudential & WPA. If you have such a policy it may cover all or part of your consultation and follow up session costs.

Please liaise with your insurer to confirm whether this is possible and to obtain your authorisation code.
