Toddlers from all over Tameside put their best foot forward to take part in the Tameside Big Toddle on Sunday 16th June to raise vital funds for Barnado’s.

The Big Toddle is the UK’s biggest fundraising event for the under 5’s and is the second time the event has taken place in Tameside.

Over 100 children took part in a short sponsored walk in Cheetham Park, Stalybridge dressed as their favourite nursery rhyme or fairytale character. The money raised for Barnado’s helps disadvantaged and vulnerable children under the age of five across the UK. Sponsor money is coming in thick and fast and is sure to exceed last years’ total of £1,644.90!

The costumes were fantastic and certainly highlight that Tameside is home to some very creative and talented parents. We even had a farmer complete with his tractor and a sheep companion!

On the day we had cake decorating, Father’s Day colouring activities, Hook a Duck and a Lucky Dip. The children had a great time at the Treasure Hunt which saw them searching the park for hidden treasure in exchange for a special sticker. We also created a foot masterpiece which is hanging proudly in the clinic.

Each child who toddled received a goody bag including a medal and a finisher’s certificate which they were all very proud of. Parents, Carers, Grandparents and friends also received a goody bag to show our appreciation for their support.

Becky Gavin of Davenport House Clinic who organised the Big Toddle says: “The Tameside Big Toddle was a huge success! We’ve raised more than we could have imagined and the response has been fantastic.”

Becky and the team at Davenport House Clinic would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took part and to all of the parent’s, carers and friends who came along to support us on the day.
