On Sunday 15th May our Podiatrist Tony Gavin took part in the BUPA Great Manchester Run. The BUPA Great Run takes place in different locations all over the country and helps to raise millions of pounds for various different charities.

Conditions were not great on Sunday, it was overcast and raining on and off, but Tony managed to complete the 10k course in a very impressive 49 minutes.

What is even more impressive is that Tony only had three days notice for the event! One of his patients had signed up for the race but was unable to compete and Tony stepped in to save the day. He has been in training for the Liverpool Marathon in October and has made tremendous progress, it puts the rest of the team to shame!

The course saw Tony pass several Manchester landmarks including the Imperial War Museum, The Lowry and Old Trafford (not Tony’s favourite place!). The atmosphere was incredible and there was live music at several intervals to keep the moral high. The spectators were also fantastic and all runners were encouraged and applauded throughout the entire course.

Tony is competing in the Buxton Half Marathon at the end of this month and will then compete in Liverpool in October. We will keep you updated with his progress but in the meantime you can follow his progress on his blog.

The team at Davenport House Clinic would like to congratulate Tony on his success and wish him the best of luck at his upcoming events. We are all very proud of his achievements!
