Pre-school children from all over Tameside made a real difference by taking part in the Tameside Big Toddle 2012 – The UK’s biggest fundraising event for under 5’s.

Saturday 21st July saw over 50 Toddlers turn into superheroes at Cheetham Park, Stalybridge in aid of Barnado’s. Toddlers took part in a short sponsored walk to raise funds that are vital for Barnardo’s work with disadvantaged and vulnerable children under the age of five across the UK. Funds are still coming in but so far a fantastic £900.00 has been raised. We had every superhero from Superman and Spiderman to some pretty princesses – the youngest participant was just 16 weeks old!

On the day there was a treasure hunt which had the children searching the park for treasure which could be exchanged for stickers. We also created a foot masterpiece which is hanging proudly in the clinic. Each child who toddled received a goody bag including a medal and a finisher’s certificate which they were all very proud of.

Becky Gavin of Davenport House Clinic who organised the Big Toddle says: “The Tameside Big Toddle was a huge success! We’ve raised more than we could have imagined and the response has been fantastic.”

Becky and the team at Davenport House Clinic would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took part and to all of the parent’s, carers and friends who came along to support us on the day.
